Maintenance
Car Filters Explained: Oil, Air, Cabin & Fuel Filters
What the key vehicle filters do, why they matter and how they support routine maintenance.

Oil and air filters
The oil filter captures particles in the lubrication system, while the engine air filter helps prevent dust and debris from entering the intake. Both support normal engine operation when replaced at the correct interval.
Cabin and fuel filters
The cabin filter helps clean the air entering the passenger compartment. The fuel filter protects fuel-system components from contamination where the vehicle design includes a serviceable filter.
Replace by the vehicle schedule
Filters are not interchangeable across models. Use the owner’s manual and correct part reference, and consider inspection sooner when the vehicle operates in dusty conditions.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions.
Can a dirty air filter affect performance?
A restricted filter can affect airflow, but the cause of any performance problem should be professionally diagnosed.
Are cabin filters only about comfort?
They mainly help with incoming-air cleanliness and can support air-conditioning airflow when kept in good condition.
